Little Wagon Produce has grown tremendously since our first year in 1989! Many of our customers can remember the beginning years when we had one covered wagon and a green metal money box, which customers paid for their produce on the “honor system”. Wow, what a way to operate a business--the family picked the produce while the customers helped themselves! We soon grew into two covered wagons, a demand for more produce and a need for more parking! Our customers were always referring to us as “the little wagons”. The name stuck and the family decided it was time to give it the official name, “Little Wagon Produce”. In 2001, we added a pole building, covered awning, greenhouse, and cooler.
Little Wagon Produce operates under Woodenhawk Farms, which consists of grain farming. The business is family owned and operated by Dan & Becky Vanderwende, whom many of the employees refer to as “Farmer Dan” and "Ms. Becky". The oldest sibling, Breck, grows all the flowers and helps with grain farming. In 2020, we added large freezer units to sell local meat and more siblings started to help more. Christy manages the frozen inventory and marketing. Amber manages the employees and day to day operations. We appreciate a large team of many seasonal employees who keep things running smoothly.
On January 6, 2023, Dan & Becky Vanderwende celebrated their 50th wedding aniiversary. Their 4 kids planned a surprise reception to celebrate with family, friends, and local community. We would like to thank all of our regular, loyal customers for supporting us year after year.
